Camarillo Academy for Excellence is a Non-Public
School located in Camarillo, California serving
every district within the Ventura County SELPA.
The focus of our school is to serve children who
have been designated with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome
or related disorders. Our students are those children
who demonstrate the need for social, communicative,
and behavioral assistance in order to prepare them
for interactions throughout their lives in a "real
world" circumstance. By using the most current
teaching methodologies such as the direct instruction,
visual structure, and ABA strategies, we will discover
the most effective method, or combination of methods,
that will address your child's learning style. We
also employ occupational therapy and speech/language
strategies in the day-to-day curriculum in addition
to pull-out services as designated by each child's
IEP. The school is staffed with credentialed teachers
and instructional assistants whom are trained to
work with children on the spectrum. We take full
advantage of the trainings offered by the Ventura
County SELPA and closely ingrain ourselves with
the community.
It is the philosophy of the school that while
academics and standards are important for this
group of children, we must also address their
social skills needs as one of our primary concerns.
At this time the entire program is being put into
place by the efforts of teachers, parents, specialists
and volunteers who understand the need for a program
of this magnitude in Ventura County. We feel that
we offer one of the best placement options for
your special needs child in the Ventura County
